Downloading from your own Loom account
If you own the video and your workspace is on a paid plan, Loom's own download works too. Loom's help center limits native downloads to admins and creators in Business, Business + AI, and Enterprise workspaces, so Starter users often see no button at all.
- Sign in to the workspace that owns the video and open it from your Library.
- Wait until processing and edits have finished.
- Open More actions on the share page and choose Download.
- Play the beginning, middle, and end of the MP4 before you treat it as a backup.
Why the Loom download button is missing

How do I download a Loom video?

Can I download Loom videos for free, without a paid plan?

Why can't I download a Loom video?
Loom only offers its own Download button to admins and creators on Business, Business + AI, and Enterprise workspaces. It can also be hidden while a video is still processing, when you're signed in to the wrong workspace, or when the owner turned downloads off. For a public share link you're allowed to save, the downloader on this page works without a paid plan.
Can I download any Loom video with this?
It works with public Loom share or embed links, and you should only download recordings you own or are authorized to save. Private, password-protected, deleted, or expired Looms may not be available.
Does Chairkick upload or store the downloaded video?
No. The download path talks directly to Loom from your browser. Direct MP4s come straight from Loom; streamed recordings are converted on your device. Chairkick receives the Loom link only when you explicitly choose Import.
How does the Loom to MP4 conversion work?
When Loom exposes a direct MP4, the browser saves it as-is. When Loom exposes a stream, supported browsers convert it locally to H.264 video with AAC audio in an MP4 container — no server in the middle.
Which browsers support streamed Loom downloads?
Current desktop Chrome and Edge have the browser media features needed to convert streams and can write the MP4 directly to disk. Other browsers may still download direct MP4s, and importing into Chairkick remains available as a fallback.
What happens to my Loom transcripts and comments?
Comments stay in Loom. When you import into Chairkick, each video brings Loom's captions along as a searchable transcript when Loom has them, and comments start collecting on the new share link. New recordings you make in Chairkick get transcripts, summaries, and chapters automatically.
I'm deleting my Loom account — what should I do first?
